As for whether Irving was aware of his inclusion in the song, the guard briefly talked about it Stream on Twitch.

“I’m not angry. I’m not indifferent. I’m just grateful. Irving said, via TMZ.

Irving has been an outspoken critic of the COVID-19 vaccine, refusing to get it. New York City had a mandate where New York sports team players need to be vaccinated to play in home games. As a result, Irving sat outside the games played at the Barclays Center with the authorization applied to him. Initially, Irving sat out all of Brooklyn’s games, but the team allowed him to play in road games.

Last March, athletes were exempted from playing in home games regardless of their vaccination status. That cleared the way for Irving to play in home games late in the 2021-22 season.

The Nets’ season ended early, as they swept the Boston Celtics in the first round.

Irving has a player option for the 2022-23 season, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent.
